This first week at the Illume Foundation’s Startup Fellowship, presented by the Melbourne Business School for the IISMA-E program has been both intense and exhilarating, filled with new experiences, cultural immersion, and powerful learning moments.

Adjusting to Melbourne’s vibrant pace and multicultural atmosphere has been a journey in itself—everything feels so fresh and dynamic. Every tram ride, conversation, and interaction has been an opportunity to explore not only a new city but a whole new world. The Victorian landscape, from bustling markets to quiet parks, adds a unique charm that makes every moment feel like an exploration.

One of the week's standout experiences was the Pitch Night Showcase at the Wade Institute. Watching the presenters was a masterclass in itself. Their storytelling was captivating and purposeful, demonstrating the art of making an idea resonate deeply with the audience. I learned that a powerful pitch isn’t just about presenting an idea but about creating an experience that engages the audience, allowing them to journey through the concept alongside you. Efficiency, clarity, and emotional engagement were recurring themes, and I realised these are crucial for connecting with any audience—skills I’m eager to develop further in my presentations.
